Pondok Pesantren Tebuireng

Founded in 1899 by Hadratus Syaikh KH Hasyim Asy’ari, who later co-founded Nahdlatul Ulama in 1926. Tebuireng became one of the most influential centres of traditional Islamic learning in Java and trained many of the region’s leading ulama.
